Kaspersky Labs has identified a new, highly complex malware named “Gauss”, which is a variant of recently identified Stuxnet and Flame
(one of the most complex computer viruses of all time) malware that
affects Windows systems. Like Flame, the attack by Gauss has also highly
targeted (especially to Middle East countries); however, anyone can
simply check their computer for Gauss by an online tool from Kaspersky.
Once infected, Gauss malware can steal lot of information from an infected computer, such as banking information, credit card details, passwords, etc.
Kaspersky Labs has detected that the “Gauss” malware installs a font called "Palida Narrow" on infected systems. Although, it is yet to discovered why the attackers have installed this font, it could serve as an indicator of Gauss activity on a system.
